  • What will happen without a good gutter system?

If you don’t install a rain gutter system on your home when you build it or install a new system when your existing one is in disrepair, you’re looking at a lot of issues. A gutter system that is not in good shape can cause water to run underneath the shingles on the roof. This can cause roof damage to occur. This is also an issue when it snows, so it is important that you have a rain gutter in place for when the snow melts.* A home without a gutter system will have water running down the side of the house. This means that the water can get underneath siding if the home is sided. This also means that erosion can occur in some places. For example, a brick home may encounter erosion and there is the fact that a “rusting” effect can occur. The foundation can become damaged. When the foundation has large amounts of water running against it for long periods, cracks start to form. Without gutters in place, you literally have a moat around your house. If cracks in the basement, it could flood

Leaf Guard / Gutter Guard

  • Leaf Guard / Gutter Guard

Whether it's gutter installation, leaf guard or gutter guards added to your home in Northwest Arkansas, TNJ Seamless Gutters can get them installed properly and efficiently. There are many benefits to guards, and we will explain your different options. We can work with many different types of gutter systems and will discuss different ways you could proceed.
  • When to consider leaf guard / gutter guard?

Debris such as leaves and pine needles get blown around and inevitably wind up on your roof. With a little wind or rain, they fall into your gutter where they start to decompose and pack down into a solid sheet of material. Dirt, dust, and the granules from asphalt shingles can also clog your gutters. Gutter guards help reduce clogs by blocking large debris.

Why Rain Gutters?
Rainwater can take a toll on your home and surroundings, like landscaping, soil, decking and concrete. We need a gutter system to carry harmful moisture away to avoid damage and unwanted run-off. A good gutter system will collect the storm water that lands on our roofs and directs the collected water away from the house. You need such a system in order to help reduce water and moisture damage to our homes. The wetter the climate the more we need a properly functioning gutter system. Water that collects next to the foundation of a house will tend to find its way into some part of the structure and that can cause water and moisture damage.

What happens in the winter?
Modern homes are designed to conserve or "trap" energy. That's good. But in the process, such homes can also trap moisture and that can cause big problems and costly damage. For example, if the soil around the foundation is soaked from roof drainage water, we can assume that at least some of that moisture will find its way into the basement, crawl space or the concrete floor. Some of this moisture will then be absorbed by the air in the home. If this occurs in the winter time, we can assume that the warmed air in the home will absorb a great deal of moisture (warm air can absorb more moisture than cold air). If this moisture saturated air finds itself into some spaces with cold surfaces - and it will, then some of this moisture will condense against these cold surfaces. This can happen at windows, attic plywood and inside exterior walls, etc.Condensation at windows may just be bothersome, but in attics and walls it can cause fungal wood-rot and that can be very expensive to repair. A good gutter system helps to control the amount of water and moisture that gets into a structure. And that, in combination with various types of venting system, can prevent the damage from trapped moisture.
